Our son has been diagnosed with ADHD and autistic traits, and we have been attending speech therapy, behavioral therapy, and occupational therapy at Dr. Shafi’s clinic for the past 3 months.

I’ve had a very good experience with Dr. Shafi’s developmental clinic. The only challenge I faced was with booking appointments—if it's not pre-booked, you might miss the monthly review. However, aside from that, everything else has been exceptional.
The staff, therapists, and doctor genuinely do their best to guide us. Dr. Shafi Sir, speech therapist Sneha Ma'am, behavioural therapists Febina Ma'am (initially) and later Julaila Ma'am, and occupational therapist Mirsha Ma'am—all have been incredibly supportive. What stands out the most is how each one of them treats and guides my child as if he were their own. That level of personal care is something I found missing in other centres, including those abroad.
The clinic also has thoughtful facilities like a play area, an aviary, and a small canteen. These have made the environment enjoyable and welcoming for my child—he feels active, happy, and playful whenever he visits.
I’ve seen real progress in my child’s development, and I believe that with consistent effort at home—following their guidance and doing interactive activities—we can achieve even more.

Dr. Shafi’s is one of the best Child Development Centres in Kerala.
Dr. Shafi has received training in Developmental Pediatrics from CMC Vellore, which has one of the best Developmental Pediatrics centers in India.
At Dr. Shafi’s CDC, a team led by Developmental Pediatrician Dr. Shafi—along with Child Psychologists, Occupational Therapists, Speech Therapists, and Physiotherapists—works to identify developmental problems in children and provide solutions for overcoming them.
Unlike other therapy centers, the specialty here is the “Home Program.” The idea is that developmental training should always continue at the child’s home, and that “parents are the best therapists for their children.”
First, the doctor examines the child, after which the child must undergo a six-day (half-day each) developmental assessment program. During these six days, psychologists, occupational therapists, speech therapists, etc., use standardized testing tools to identify the child’s developmental level. After that, parents are guided on how to carry out the necessary therapies at home (Home Program). Activities are prepared according to the goals to be achieved within one month, and these are given to the parents.
After one month, a two-day/three-day review session is conducted to assess the changes achieved during that month. The next set of goals for the following month is then planned, and parents are taught the activities required to achieve them.
For real improvement in children, it is extremely important that parents follow these instructions at home with dedication.
If parents have any doubts while implementing the home program, they can directly contact the therapists over the phone to get clarity.
Here, Speech Therapist Anjali Madam, Occupational Therapist Lijin Sir, and Psychologists Shafeedha Madam and Salma Madam provide excellent guidance by understanding the children and giving accurate solutions to their problems.
It is important to note that every child is different, and so are their challenges. Therapy plans will vary depending on each child’s specific needs. Only if parents consistently follow the recommended home program at home will children show improvements.
The center is located near Kozhikode Medical College, slightly away from the main road. A house has been converted into the Child Development Centre. Vehicle parking is available a short distance away from the center.

I’ve had a very good experience with Dr. Shafi’s developmental clinic. The only challenge I faced was with booking appointments—if it's not pre-booked, you might miss the monthly review. However, aside from that, everything else has been exceptional.
The staff, therapists, and doctor genuinely do their best to guide us. Dr. Shafi Sir, speech therapist Sneha Ma'am, behavioural therapists Febina Ma'am (initially) and later Julaila Ma'am, and occupational therapist Mirsha Ma'am—all have been incredibly supportive. What stands out the most is how each one of them treats and guides my child as if he were their own. That level of personal care is something I found missing in other centres, including those abroad.
The clinic also has thoughtful facilities like a play area, an aviary, and a small canteen. These have made the environment enjoyable and welcoming for my child—he feels active, happy, and playful whenever he visits.
I’ve seen real progress in my child’s development, and I believe that with consistent effort at home—following their guidance and doing interactive activities—we can achieve even more.

Dr. Shafi's child development program is the perfect fit for my son. My son has a problem with speech delay and hyperactivity. First and foremost, we were terrified by this situation. We saw an advertisement for Dr. Shafi's Child Development Centre on Instagram.

I am going through one of the happiest moments of my life, and the reason behind it is Dr. Shafi’s Development Centre, which I would like to talk about here.
I was deeply distressed about my daughter’s health condition when we went for an evaluation at Dr. Shafi’s Development Centre in Chevayur, Kozhikode. Until we reached there for the consultation, my daughter was unable to sit, hold herself up, speak, or even cry. She had to be fed through a tube. But after undergoing treatment there, she has now started to sit, hold herself up, eat without the tube, and even say small words like “umma” and “uppa.”

Therapist (Krishnaprabha) taught us how to assist our daughter’s development at home and she was very professional.. Dr shafi had a thorough investigation about the issues he faced, considering our (parents) consernce. Then we had 3 days continuous sessions with Alima mam and Mirsha begum. I’m a mother of three year old baby girl, who is a hydrocephalus baby and undergoes 6 surgeries. She’s having developmental delays due to that, we had gone different centre’s before . For last two months , she is consulted under Dr. Shafi sir , in his clinic and he suggested 4 therapies like Developmental psychology, Occupational therapy, Speech Therapy and Physio Therapy for her . Actually their treatment pattern is different from other therapy centres, here it is parent mediated therapies, I think it’s far better than going daily into a centre and not getting enough result for a long period of time. We actually know that in a development delayed baby , we can’t see a drastic change in a less time but we can see some changes all together. I can see how it is change in my baby within this two months . We are so grateful to have her in this centre and thanks to Dr. Shafi sir for getting her consulted and suggest the good & expertise therapists for her . My son turned five in May 2025. Although he is verbal, he was not forming sentences with three or more words. We first noticed developmental delays after his first birthday—he was consistently just below the expected milestone curve. Despite consulting several pediatricians and visiting district Child Development Centres, we were repeatedly told it was a mild delay and nothing to worry about. While some institutions suspected Autism Spectrum Disorder, others attributed it to speech and language delays. We initiated early interventions, including speech and occupational therapy, from the age of two, but his progress remained slow despite our consistent efforts and financial investment. By age five, delays were evident in his speech, language, fine motor, cognitive, and emotional regulation. In May 2025, we visited Dr. Shafi’s clinic, where a multidisciplinary team finally diagnosed him with Global Developmental Delay. Their parent-training model and home-based therapy using simple, low-cost materials brought visible improvements within a month. He now make sentences with 3 words, identifies 2 colours, grasp pencils, make standing line in white board and slate,now sits and does activities and puzzles for more than 30 minutes in one stretch. His speech, attention, motor skills, and behaviour are improving significantly. I’m deeply grateful to Dr. Shafi and his compassionate team—they are knowledgeable, approachable, and genuinely dedicated to each child's needs. I am pleased to write this review and recommendation and can not underestimate the positive experience I had here. My son attended three sessions here. speech therapy, psychology and occupational therapy. The progress and experience has been phenomenal. I came here with lots of doubts and tensions. A special thanks to julaila mam who supported me very well and giving the guidelines and instructions regarding my son's development. The most surprising thing was when i send any small changes of my son to them, they patiently listen that and giving support and guidence to me. It make me to do more with lots of confident. An individualised plan was established for him and we tried our best to teach him the home based activities that they have provided for him. After one month he showed the result with tremendous change. He can able to sort things, now he learn to identify colours and the most surprising thing for me was he was more socialised with his surroundings and more connected with the family members. Now he is trying some words and obeying the simple commands. Last week he went to his new pre school and teachers told us that he was become more connected and sharing things with his friends. Now he is eating the food by himself. I think he is more independent comparing with the old days.
I think just attending the session will not give a positive impact. The review session is the most important thing. Each session they are changing the plan according with the change that happens to the child.
